Worst ever !!!
FSU record in Va. this year is 1-5. This is not the FSU baseball program we have all seen in the past. We used to show up in Salem Va. and be the reason most people came out to see the game !!!

RE: Worst ever !!!
UVa has put a lot into their baseball program, and they hired a very, very good coach. VT has improved a good bit as well, and we struggled up there last time we were there. Lots of wind, as I remember. This year's team has not been great on the road, period.

Didn't mean to sound so harsh. Just a little worried about the direction the program is headed. You are right, UVA has become a very legitimate big time program thanks to Coach O'Conner and Tech is getting better...but we still used to beat teams of their caliber 2 out of 3 on a bad weekend. Hell, I was in Blacksburg (several years ago)when VT won 1 of 3 and chest bumped all over the field !!!

The direction of the program? We went to Omaha last year with a team nobody predicted would make it, and won 2 more games than the UF team that everyone thought would win it all.

Courtesy of LuLu on Twitter:

Quote:The lowest team ERA in the Martin era was 2.72 by the 1995 team. After tonight's win over JU the team ERA is 2.69.

Statistically, at least, the pitching has improved significantly since Bell came on board. I'll let RaysNNoles give you the offensive stats, but suffice it to say, our offense is still one of the most productive in the nation.

Where we have had a noticeable drop-off this season is in defense. But, that is to be expected when you lose your entire infield (Gonzo via injury), and that infield happened to be one of the very best 11 has put on the field.

And yet, we're still up there at the top of the rankings, having climbed up from fairly low pre-season expectations.

They are Really young. But not getting key hits at the right time. Plus they play a UVa team that is REALLY Good. It happens it is baseball.
